Hello bloggy friends! Sorry for the long silence, but I’ve actually been immersed in a video project for Popdose. It entailed getting a new video camera (well, it’s actually the first video camera I’ve ever purchased. All the other video we’ve been able to capture of the family has been with borrowed cameras, so this is a big deal for us), updating my editing software (the camera wouldn’t work with the old software), and producing the thing.
Maya was a big help. She did the camera work on half the shots. Eric was also a big help, too. He recorded my “on-camera” parts at the club where I was reviewing The Watson Twins and Tim Fite, and even bought me a drink! 🙂
So, the long and the short of it is that it was a fun (but time consuming) project. Even though I went to film school (I switched majors at the end of my junior year), and I know how to work the equipment, there’s still a learning curve involved — especially with new software. I have to say that even though iMovie 08 makes editing easier, they have taken away features I miss — like the preview mode and the old audio editng feature. Also, many of the effects available on iMovie HD are not there on the 08 version. Boo!
Anyway, I hope you can check out my handiwork at Popdose (click HERE) and let me know what you think.

July 31, 2008 at 10:02 amYou spent so much time on editing this yesterday, that I’m really glad it turned out so well! Of course, that’s not chance, it’s TALENT. 🙂
If we carry the camera all of the time, do you think we’ll get video of Gen bashing into the back of the car? ‘Cause I could watch that on a loop for hours…

August 1, 2008 at 3:24 pmWell, first I’d like to say your camera is better looking than the one posted on your blog. Your is a lovely sleek blue number.
Second, you look at lot different in video.
Third very well done. Nice little picture of the featured artists with some very good commentary. Professional stuff.
Tim Fite did seem like he was possessed. His visuals were well done and added immensely to his performance.
The Twins, were ok, I had a feeling like one of the twins vocals and range was not as strong maybe because it was lost in the translated to video. No I am trying to be like Simon on American Idol. Well, any way. Great job you are very talented.
