I have a last name that people will often say with an accent — usually Spanish. I’m not Spanish or Latino, or even Hispanic, but sometimes people seem compelled to pronounce my last name in ways ripe for parody in this classic SNL skit featuring Jimmy Smits as a new reporter:

November 28, 2017 at 7:44 pmI’m always amazed when either a. Someone pronounces is like we do, or at least close, or b. When someone pronounces it like it would be in India, or at least close.
