Another group of three for the long weekend!
“China Cat Sunflower” Grateful Dead (Download) Honestly, I don’t get the appeal of the Grateful Dead. I’m not a fan, and I don’t pretend to be a fair weather fan, either. But this song has such a great opening hook, that they make it almost impossible not to listen to.
“Don’t You Evah” Spoon (Download) It was the title of the album that made me want to buy it. And I’m glad I did! While most of the songs are okay, this one has that certain something that just shines.
“Forever Autumn” The Moody Blues (Download) I was trolling eMusic the other day and found this live album by The Moody Blues. I’ve seen the band live, but I think their live recordings have been kind of dull. But this song (from the War of the Worlds radio theater soundtrack) is so pretty, and hearing Justin Hayward sing so effortlessly decades after it was originally recorded shows that he’s not just a singer in a rock-n-roll band.
