Sometimes I think I work in Hell — especially when Avril Lavigne’s new single “Keep Holding On” is playing. That song just drives me up a wall for some reason. I can’t quite explain it except to say that her voice sounds flat and it makes me wince. It’s kind of odd because I used to like many of her songs, but something happened and I just can’t muster even a ounce of love for this tune.
(Sigh)
We all have songs that we just can’t stand, but we have songs that we secretly love — you know, the so-called “guilty pleasures.”
What all of this is leading up to is a Friday the 13th Double Mix Six of current songs that you hate, and your guilty pleasures (they don’t have to be current songs).Â
Wanna play? Well then, fire away! I’ll see you in the comments section. 🙂

April 12, 2007 at 8:10 amI don’t believe in guilty pleasures because there should be no guilt in pleasure. That said, I really dig Saosin’s “Voices.” At the Drive-In totally wrote the book on this style, but “Voices” is a very nice track.

April 12, 2007 at 8:26 amSo noted, Eric! However, you have to have a current song that drives you crazy.

April 12, 2007 at 11:16 amThat guy that sings “You’re Beautiful.” I can’t remember his name right now. That song drives me over the edge! Oh yeh…James Blunt.
You’re going to barf a little when I tell you my guilty pleasure choices:
George Michael….anything from the “Faith” album. 🙂
Fleetwood Mac’s 1987 (?) album. I used to have the CD, but I can’t remember what ever became of it.

April 12, 2007 at 11:47 amIs it OK that I love and hate “Voices”? I think so.

April 12, 2007 at 2:46 pmoh, I love me some miss Avril. Although I do enjoy the POP a little too much for my own health, and I’m a sucker for a ballad.
I love quite a few songs I shouldn’t, and frankly I try to block out those that I hate so I’m having a hard time here. You know I don’t keep a list of my hated songs in my playlist to go pick from.
Guilty Love – any Britney (I said I liked the pop) – please don’t put that in the mix. It might ruin it. Or ABBA, ok maybe Hilary Duff’s Come Clean. Kelly Clarkson? or Chicago. Mmm Bop? Those are all pretty bad, but I still love’em. Ok, here you go:
Crash Test Dummies – MMM Mmm Mmm Mmm
Current Hate – That Scissor Sister song.. you know the one. Or Los Lonely Boys (not so current, but ARGH!)

April 12, 2007 at 9:16 pmI also don’t like Avril’s new song, I thought it was Hilary Duff singing. Chee gets mad at me everytime I say this Hilary Duff’s song stinks, she rolls her eyes and says it is AV-RIL…
