Bloggers (And Readers of Blogs) Unite!

Jefito asked a bunch ‘o music bloggers if they were interested in doing some good old fashion fund raising for a non-profit organization, and we all said “Yes.” The money is going to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation who are doing a number of local “Great Strides” walks to raise cash for medical research and treatment for individuals suffering from cystic fibrosis (if you don’t know what cystic fibrosis is, you can get a good description HERE).

It may seem like this non-profit was randomly chosen, but it wasn’t. One of our bloggy friends (Scott Malchus) has a child with cystic fibrosis and he’s been very active in the Great Strides walk and doing what he can to raise money for medical research. Jefito thought it would be great if we did an online auction for items that relate to music and musicians to help Scott reach his goal of raising $2500. Scott doesn’t know about our efforts, and we’re hoping that the folks who read our blogs will contribute what they can to CF research.

There are some wonderful auction items on our site, Bloggers For A Cure, and we’re hoping to add more in the coming weeks. I’m going to contact the manager of Barenaked Ladies to see if the group will record a customized voicemail greeting to the highest bidder. Other items may include autographed pictures of artists from the world of pop and rock (actual autograph, not computer generated), and, if we’re lucky, autographed CDs.

You’ll see the Great Strides animated gif in my sidebar for a couple of months, so you’ll have plenty of time to contribute to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) or bid on the donated items. Every cent raised will go to Scott’s efforts to raise money for the CFF.

I hope you’ll join us in our efforts!
