The esteemed Republican VP candidate was asked a simple question: “What newspapers do you read?” Her answer was “All of them.” Obviously, it’s clear that she doesn’t think about her answers before opening her mouth sometimes, but it got me thinking about how I would answer that question (and I’ll include magazines, too):
Newspapers:
San Francisco Chronicle
New York Times
Los Angeles Times
Washington Post
Magazines (Paper copy)
Rolling Stone
Paste
Harper’s
The New Yorker
The Atlantic Monthly
People
New York Review of Books
London Review of Books
That’s about all I can think about now. How ’bout you? If Katie Couric asked you what newspapers and magazines you read, what would you say?

October 7, 2008 at 11:37 amI read all magazines and newspapers put in front of me.
Oh wait no….That was someone else’s answer.
Honestly, I’m too cheap to buy magazines and newspapers. But I happily read People and Parents at the Dr’s office!

October 7, 2008 at 1:38 pmFunny, this conversation motivated my blog post today as well. 🙂 Um, I don’t read a lot of newspaper/magazines. I read the SF Chronicle, sometimes People (more often than you do), and that’s about it. Sometimes I’ll pick something else up if it looks interesting. Most of my news type reading, I do online, so it’s wherever it comes from, mostly Yahoo I’m afraid. Sigh.

October 9, 2008 at 10:20 amHummm,
Some times I read CC Times, when I am at the library, or Oakland Tribune.
I love the Weekly Magazine, and Country Living, oh and Reiki News. When I am at the grocery store, People Magazine. But if someone important like Katie Couric asked me, I would say what ever my secretary puts on my desk.

October 10, 2008 at 9:43 amSigh. THAT woman makes me SIGH.
I don’t like to read the paper. I used to read the contra costa times. I like a good People Magazine depending on who’s on the cover. I read news online. But I decline to state which ones I go to. haha
Maybe I should be a politician!!
VOTE FOR ME!!!

October 12, 2008 at 9:01 pmI don’t read the paper (although I subscribe for some strange reason) nor do I currently read any magazines (other than the free ones my city and health insurance company send out). I used to read WIRED and BYTE magazine years ago. If it’s not on cnn.com, I probably don’t know about it.

October 13, 2008 at 11:43 pmSomeone ambushed Katie Couric in front of Tiffany and asked her the same question.
“All of them. Any of them” she said (Your future VP’s response, actually).
Then she said “Well, everybody claims to read the Economist, but I actually DO!”
So do I.
That plus the daily paper here in Mainz, Germany, plus the Sunday edition of the FAZ, a quality national broadsheet.
Online feeds of NYT
HBR when I can get my hands on it, New Yorker ditto, Wired ditto, Private Eye and Spectator ditto.
Plus the subscriptions – Cuisine (foody stuff), and NZ Houses (design and architecture).
