Brand Confusion

Watching this political race between Obama and McCain, reminds me of the way in which car companies flood the market with vehicles when they find a certain style starts to capture the dollars of the consuming public.

To wit:

In 2000, Chrysler introduces the PT Cruiser …

In 2004, the Scion XB (aka “The Box”) surfaces …

2005, Honda unleashes the Element …

2006, Chevy releases the Heritage High Roof, or HHR …

2008, Ford says “Me too!” with the Flex …

Barack Obama launches his campaign for the presidency with the theme of “Change…”

And now, John McCain rolls out his new campaign theme: Original Mavericks with a not-so-subtle dash of “real change.”

  1. Copy cats. 😉

  2. I know. It’s such a game.

  3. It’s so pathetic, really. What’s even more pathetic is that it might even work.

  4. The cars are more appealing to me than the candidates.. ;0(
