Hello my select few readers (All 3 of you)! As you probably know, ye olde Mix Six has been living on another blog, and if you’ve been going over there to get your weekly dose of mixy goodness, then I give you my heartfelt thanks. But to be honest, I kind of miss doing the music thing on my bloggy blog. So while I’ve exported the Mix Six to Popdose, it doesn’t stop me from trying some other things, right?
Because I think I’m a slave to the segueway when it come to music, I thought I would try something new. Nothing fancy, just songs that I’ve randomly picked from my collection to share with you. Three is a good number…well, actually three is a magic number, but it’s also a manageable number when it comes to spotlighting music. And speaking of which, the first song in this random sample is:
“Drop in the Ocean” Michelle Branch (Download). The last song on her wonderful major label debut, The Spirit Room. Michelle was able to take an otherwise tepid ballad and add a little spice with some electronic drum programming for what I think was a great ending to one of my favorite pop albums of 2001.
Ingrid Michaelson “Starting Now” (Download). Last week, Cherry and Eric came over for a wonderful dinner, drinks, and good times. Eric and I started talking about music and what we were listening to. He said that he was really enjoying Ingrid Michaelson. So, on his good review, I downloaded the album from eMusic, and have been giving it a listen for last few days, and overall, it’s kind of pleasant.
Dean Gray “Whatsername” (Download) Sure you bought American Idiot by Green Day, and probably Different Light by the Bangles back in the day — ’cause, you know, you really liked “Manic Monday” before it got overplayed on the radio. But did you bother to get the mash up of Green Day and the Bangles? No? Well, here ’tis!

January 25, 2008 at 8:10 amYes, Michelle Branch is pretty good. Her music is mellow…well, she’s pretty mellow for me. My musical tastes are a bit bi-polar. I’ll check it out and have a good weekend.

January 25, 2008 at 9:41 amI’m into Michelle Branch, and even in her new country duo..The Wreckers. Good for that mellow, melancholy mood. I’ll have to come back and hear the others on another computer w/ speakers! 2008 may be the year I break down and buy some!

January 25, 2008 at 12:44 pmI liked The Wreckers, but after awhile I kept wanted to hear more rock/pop and less country/pop. I guess I’m just old school Michelle Branch. π

And LaLunas…I too overdosed on MB, but this song came up when I was listening to music on iTunes and I forgot how much I liked it.
