If you’re a fan of alternative rock, you’ll know The Bravery as that band whose sound screamed “Hi! We’re big New Order fans!” No? Well, have a listen to “An Honest Mistake” and you’ll know what I mean (Listen HERE).
Back when we were having our painting party, we had the radio on our local alternative station, Live 105, and this song comes on that I just started half-singing to. Half-singing is that phenomenon that occurs when you really like a song and want to connect with it, so you do you best to immediately absorb the lyrics and sing them (even though it’s is the first time you’re hearing the song).
Anyway, I kind of forgot about the song until the other day when I saw a promo copy of the single sitting on my program director’s desk. I asked if I could have it, and he just said “Sure. We’ll never play it.” So, I popped the CD into the player in my office and the next thing you know, two people come down the hall to say “Hey! Is that The Bravery?” 🙂
It’s a pretty good song and marks a departure for the band. Instead of channeling New Order, they flashback to the 1960s in a way that makes them sound more current. Sounds odd, I know. But somehow it all seems to work. Go figure.

May 15, 2007 at 4:23 pmI am bummed because the $1000+ computer that my BIL set up for me does not currently have a sound card! He forgot to put it in. 🙁

May 16, 2007 at 9:52 amI liked it. It sounds like that music you like to listen to. Chee said she did not care for it. I guess it is not the head banging music she perfers now.
