What does it say about folks who work in offices around the world when there are not one, but five versions of The Office! I’ve been watching the American version (and was a big fan of the original British version), but it’s amusing (and a bit scary) to know that office life in the US, UK, France, Canada, and Germany is pretty much the same.
Here’s the British verison:
The American version:
The German version (“Stromberg”):
The French version (“Le Bureau”):
The French Canadian version (“La Job”):
Do you have a boss like Michael Scott/David Brent/David Gervais/Gilles Triquet/ Bernd Stromberg? If the various versions of “The Office” are any indication, chances are very good.

January 24, 2007 at 8:25 amTHANKFULLY! I do not have a boss like any of them, nor do any of the bosses above him. But I have had bosses just like them in the past! That’s why they are in the past, because I learned that there are good bosses out there.
I favored the BBC version back when the American version started, but from what I’ve seen of the American version… it’s pretty funny. I had no idea there were so many versions of it. I find it amuzing, yet sad.

January 24, 2007 at 8:29 amThere’s a guy who works for the company I do (he’s not my boss), but he’s a lot like Michael Scott in that he’s ALWAYS clowning around. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes I wonder if he’s sane, but most of the time I just figure he’s a wannabe actor.

January 24, 2007 at 8:46 amAlthough I have never seen the show or shows, I’ve had pretty good bosses where I work now. I have had some real “winners” in the past and they were the reason I changed jobs.

January 24, 2007 at 8:49 amI had the opportunity to watch the DVD version of Office a few weeks back. I noted some similarities with the people I work with and the characters of the show. I did laugh a lot, though. It’s very funny on tv, but real life? Hmmmm…

January 24, 2007 at 9:00 amI think we’ve all come across a David Brent-like character in the office and/or out of the office. I definitely have.

January 24, 2007 at 9:35 amNo, I’ve never had a boss like any of these bosses. That would have at least been interesting. I’m still waiting to meet someone like Dwight Shrute though. Now that would be entertaining.

January 24, 2007 at 11:23 amThe American version has some strange looking people. I really like my boss at this time. However her boss is a really something else, and then there are the people who think they are my boss. This world is full of bosses.

January 24, 2007 at 12:18 pmStupid bosses. 😉
I had no idea there were so many versions! I was afraid that the US version would suck, but they’ve done a really good job with it. I wonder if the others are as good?

January 24, 2007 at 7:43 pmI had a boss who once told me and my immediate supervisor, “Think of me as the sun, and you all are just little planets revolving around me.”
One of my worst bosses, ever.
