Download the Halloween Mix Six HERE
Since Halloween falls on a Tuesday this year, and I do my mix sixes on a Fridays, I suppose I’m right on time with this mix.
Download, enjoy, and play it back when the kiddies come a-callin’ for their treats on Tuesday!
“Hell” Squirrel Nut Zippers Wasn’t this song a breath of fresh air when I came out in the 90s? These days, it gets its fair share of Halloween mileage — which is not a bad thing!
“Werewolves of London” Kidz Bop Kids This ought to scare the living hell out anyone! Did the producers of Kidz Bop not listen to the lyrics? Still, if you’re feeling a bit masochistic, this is a good version to let the sweet pain flood right in.
“I Put a Spell On You” Screamin’ Jay Hawkins I’m partial to the recorded version, but this live version reaches many of the same maniacal heights as the original — with a few vocal surprises that made me laugh.
“Red Right Hand” Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Remember these phrases: “Trust No One, “The Truth is Out There,” and “God, I’m Such a Geek!” Okay, that last one was my personal motto when I got obsessed with the X Files, but boy do I love the gloomy groove Nick Cave was able to conjure on this one.
“Bela Lugosi’s Dead” Bauhaus Any Goth boys and girls out there? If so, then this is your theme song! So get dressed up in black, smoke those clove cigarettes, and look utterly bored and/or depressed about how cool you look.
“(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” Blue Oyster Cult Cowbell and all, this is such a great song!

October 27, 2006 at 6:14 amI’m looking forward to listening to this one, with the exception of the pain involved in any Kids Bop song. Boy, I’m glad Maya never got into that crap. ๐ Love Screaming Jay, and there’s never a bad time for BOC, either. And Bauhous? Fugettaboutit. LOVE LOVE LOVE that song.

October 27, 2006 at 7:00 amDid you see the SNL episode with Will Farrel playing the cow bell for the song “Dont Fear the Reaper?” I still love this song though!

October 27, 2006 at 7:48 amI knew you would put on Screaming Jay Hawkins’ version of “I Put a Spell on You.” This version is funny. I especially like the sound effects at the end. Too bad he died a few years ago.

October 28, 2006 at 8:11 amGreat mix!
I can so remember my dad playing the Warren Zevon edition of “Werewolves of London.”
And, I was never a Goth chick, but I did like that song!
And, I have a soft spot for that BOC song.
