Rooks & Becords Podcast Episode 1

Even though I’ve been working in the radio, TV, and internet world for a good chunk of my adult life, I haven’t done much by way of podcasting. Sure, I hosted a weekly public affairs program on the radio for about a decade, and that was a lot like podcasting — except the only people who heard the program had to be up on Sunday morning at 6 am. If you missed it, you missed it. Yes, I have CD copies of every show I did sitting in a large box in a closet, but I don’t go back and listen to them.

Then, when I was hosting a show for Truthout on YouTube, that was also like a podcast. If you wanted to see what I did, you just had to have an internet connection and go to my YouTube channel.

So, when I started thinking about podcasting, I didn’t want to do what I’ve done in the past: focus on news, politics, and opinion. Rather, I wanted to talk about my other passions: reading books and listening to music.

And because I’m pretty good with audio production, I figured I’d give a formal podcast a whirl. Now, I’ve done a couple of podcast episodes for Popdose — one solo and one with Matt Wardlaw — but the Rooks & Becords Podcast is just me…for now.

The content is culled from this blog and the title comes from a store that no longer exists in San Francisco. So if you’ve been reading this blog, you’ll notice something very familiar. If you don’t read this blog, well then, this will all be new. So with that, I present the first episode of the Rooks & Becords Podcast.

    1. Yay! Well, that’s the goal in some podcasts, huh. Making it enjoyable with some trivial bits thrown in for good measure. 🙂
