1469, the Italian philosopher and writer Niccolo Machiavelli is born. A lifelong patriot and diehard proponent of a unified Italy, Machiavelli became one of the fathers of modern political theory.

1802, Washington D-C was incorporated as a city.

1933, Nellie T. Ross became the first female director of theU-S Mint.

1947, Japan’s postwar constitution took effect..

1948, the Supreme Court, in Shelley v. Kraemer,ruled that covenants prohibiting the sale of real estate to blacks or members of other racial groups were legally unenforceable

1965, Author of the blog “Py Korry” was born.

1986, in NASA’s first post-Challenger launch, an unmannedDelta rocket lost power in its main engine shortly after liftoff,forcing safety officers to destroy it by remote control.

1991, the last episode of Dallas airs.

  5. Happy Belated! I am so sorry about your friend. It is so weird to be a certain number and you don’t feel it and then things like this start happening and it makes your wonder about lots of things. Hope you had a nice birthday and good luck with all the work.

  6. I like the 1965 entry. I kind of remember that day. Well couple of days before that day.
    I remember Mom coming down the stairs and saying to me I am going to be gone for a few days and when I come home I will have a new baby. I thought woo, that is news, no one told me about this before. That was when I notice her belly was big. Well Mom came back the same day and said that the baby was not ready to come yet. It remained a mystery to me for many years as to where exactly you came from. Ok it is still a mystery of where you exactly came from. I know I found floating in the sea and Mom just happened to scoop me out and save me. Well, that was the story she told me when I asked her if I was adopted. Happy Birthday little Py..
