Oh, Don’t Bother

Have you ever seen the trailer for a movie (or even read about the film prior to its release) and thought: “THAT looks really good!”  And then the film comes out, reviewers blast it, people stay away, and you think “Um, maybe I’ll watch it on DVD.”

That was the case with this film:

I wanted to see the film in the theater, but got kind of scared off because of bad reviews from both critics and friends who had seen the film. According to Amazon, this film is set to come out on DVD in early Janurary, but I’m still not sure if I want to plunk down a few bucks to see it.  It’s only a few dollars to rent, but if it really blows, I won’t get two hours of my life back.

So…what was the last film you can think of where you were really jazzed to see it and then, for some reason, didn’t bother?

  1. I couldnt wait to see “I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry”. It looked hilarious, but it wasnt. It had its moments but it definately wasnt worth theater dough.

  2. Maybe a certain film-collecting coworker will buy it, and you can borrow it for free. 😉

Last movie I was kinda jazzed about but didn’t bother to see? I kinda wanted to see the indie film, “Paris, J’Taime”, but never bothered. But it got decent reviews, I think.

  3. That reminds me of the movie called The Stupids. Someone said it was the most hilarious movie they ever saw! Guess what? It was so bad, that I fell asleep 30 minutes into the movie.

  4. Sadly, I have to agree with your initial pick. I desperately badly wanted to see Sunshine. I mean I love the majority of Danny Boyle’s films and the trailer made it look fantastic. However, it came out and I think I ended up going to see Die Hard or something instead. It’s a shame cause if it’s good, I know I’ll kick myself for that later.
