As part of our winter break from work and school, Julie and I finally cashed in certificates we received for Christmas last year to enjoy lunch on the Napa Valley Wine Train. If you’ve never been, it’s well worth it if you like wine, trains, and good food. The train doesn’t move very fast (about 25-30 mph), so there’s a lot of time to take in the scenery, savor the wine, and enjoy the food they serve you. The entire trip is about three hours and, to be honest, it goes by very fast. You start out in a waiting area where they let you sample a couple of wines. There’s a guy on the microphone who talks about the wines, the trip we’re about to go on, and about the Napa valley. That part is kind of boring, but it beats the alternative of sitting around staring at the walls. It does take a while to board the train because they call you by section numbers, but once you’re on the train, it’s quite fancy — since the train cars have a 19th century feel with 21st century luxuries. Oh, and we met a very nice couple from Iowa who were on their honeymoon in California, and it made the trip extra nice since it turned out they shared a passion for bicycling.
Anyway, here are some pictures from that trip. I guess I don’t know much about Flickr (and am too lazy to spend time trying to find out), but these aren’t ordered the way I would have liked, and Flickr isn’t making it easy to reorder these in any kind of drag and drop fashion, so I give up for now.

Fun! I like the one with our wine glasses and some construction yard in the background. Because the first part of the journey wasn't that pretty, but once we got out in the vineyards, it was really nice!
