My Linky*

Jefito does this thing on Fridays where he links to a number of blogs he thought had some great posts.  I’m going to return the love and point you toward his blog where Kurt from “Kurt’s Krap” put together an Idiot’s Guide to Rick Spingfield that made me reconsider Springfield’s music – in a good way!

Speaking of Kurt…A while back he sent an email out to some select folks who have music/mp3 blogs, and asked us if we were interested in doing a kind of roundtable of rock each week.  We were asked to talk about songs that charted on the mainstream rock charts in the 80s (I think 91 is the cut off).  Anyway, it turned out to be a really fun and funny exchange about songs that, quite frankly, I had either forgotten about or never realized charted.  You can read all about it on Friday. Oh, and of course I’ll provide a link.

Today, you have to check out Jason Hare’s ongoing series Adventures Through The Mines Of Mellow Gold! It’s a very funny series where Jason is able to really “go deep” into the world of wuss with the right amount of snark.

Ever get crappy service at a restaurant?  Gina did at the Cheesecake Factory, and she handled the situation with more diplomacy than I could ever muster.

My beloved J has a “Wordless Wednesday” post that brings to mind the lyrics “If a picture paints a thousand words…”

Eric Grubbs has a provocative post about southern accents.  The two of us share a similar profession (radio), but he lives in Texas where, it seems, not all native Texas speak like characters from The Dukes of Hazzard.  Huh, wha? 😉

And finally, Michael at work was talking about The Sarah Silverman Show on Comedy Central.  I’ve been meaning to watch this show, but keep missing it.  But hey, we live in an age of video on demand (i.e., You Tube), so here’s a rather raw sample some of the stuff she does on her show.  It’s pretty funny to me, but comedy, like time, is relative so you may find not find this to your liking.

–PK (*When we lived in Philly, our friend/neighbor used that phrase as a nickname for her infant son.  I have no idea what it means, but it’s a phrase that seems to fit rather nicely when linking to bloggy friends!)

  1. Thanks, Py! Did J tell you the possible exciting news of my possible impending visit? 😉

And, we watched “Jesus is Magic” and I laughed perhaps five times. I like her style of delivery, but the material is weak.

  2. I like it when other blogs are linked to and suggested. It’s gives me a much broader choice of topics and folks to look up.

  3. Hey, I got a linky for my gross picture! I’m honored. I went and read about the accents. That was pretty groovy. Also of course, Gina’s Cheesecake experience. Bummer.

    Happy Wednesday!

  4. I was a huge Rick Springfield fan in the 5th grade! 🙂 I was in LOVE with Mr. Springfield. I haven’t seen the Sara Silverman show yes, but I will check it out.
