Mountain Biking with Steve!

Today, I did something I have never done before:  mountain bike.  If you read this blog, you know that I do a lot of road biking, but never have I taken to the trails and explore the glories of off road biking.  It’s a different animal to be sure, but I can see why people prefer it to road biking.  The most obvious reason is that there aren’t any cars, stop lights, stop signs, and any other road block one deals with when road biking. The second reason is that you’re enjoying the natural surroundings in a way most don’t usually do.  That is to say, you’re peddling through some really lovely terrain, and unless you’ve ridden a particular route before, you’re not really sure what’s around the bend – which, I’m sure, is also part of the appeal of mountain biking.

Anyway, my brother Steve joined me on this little adventure, and I had to document it on using the video feature on my iPhone. I grabbed a map of the trails, but as you’ll see from out comments in the video, it didn’t help us find out way back to our cars. Enjoy!

  1. Looks like you two had a great time. I rode (walked with the bike) up Mt. Diablo on the fire roads on the Danville side. Riding a Schwinn Varsity was akin to riding a Sherman Tank. The ride up was great–the ride down was a blast. Glad you had fun.
