My niece graduated from U.C. Berkeley on Thursday! Yay! She’s been working very hard these past few years at school and now it’s all come to the Big Day. What’s odd is that Cal has the graduation first, and then students have to take their finals. I don’t think I have ever heard of that, and I’m not entirely sure why they do that. But hey, it’s still graduation! So, with that, here’s a mix for Shannon! But that doesn’t stop everyone else from enjoying it.

Vitamin C “Graduation Day (Friends Forever)”(Listen HERE) Boy, if there was ever a list of “occasion” songs savvy producers put together to keep record sales strong once a year, this would top the list.

Boyz II Men “It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday” (Listen HERE) It seems the Boyz have the market cornered on ballads that require you to dance with all of your friends at the end of dance in one big group hug.

Semisonic “Closing Time” (Listen HERE) Here’s one that stumped me on the whole graduation theme. But the closer I listen to the lyrics, the more it seems to fit quite nicely.

Kanye West “Graduation Day” (Listen HERE) Just the right amount of sass for a grad night.

Smashing Pumpkins “Today” (Listen HERE) Another song that I never thought was a graduation song. But after searching for top graduation songs, this one kept coming up. Huh.
