 When your name is Barack Hussein Obama, saying that you’re a committed Christian might be a tough sell when you’re running for President of the United States. You would be wrong, however, if you were betting against Obama in the South Carolina primaries.  Maybe in keeping with his “unity” theme Obama was just keeping it real by courting Christians in South Carolina. If that was the case, then his campaign in South Carolina is a textbook case of “all politics is local.” The guy want to be President, so he’ll do what he has to do to get elected.  But it gives me an uneasy feeling in the pit of my gut to know that you can’t win national elections in the U.S. without having some connection to Christian churches.

Yeah, I can understand his reasons for making sure people know he’s not somehow related to Osama or Saddam, and that he’s not involved in anything that they’re involved in. And with the smear campaign that BushCo pulled in SC against McCain all those years ago, regarding race, I can doubly see why this campaign may have helped him quite a bit.
But still, it makes me feel like an outsider as an atheist, and like I’m not sure that he has my best interest at heart. Gives me the willies.
