C-Lo’s Mix Six

Friday = Mix Six day! This week’s mix comes from my workplace bud, C-Lo! She’s put together a great selection from some powerhouse 80s films that I would venture to guess are either on most of our top 10s, or our guilty pleasures list. With that said, I now turn things over guest blogger, C-Lo!

First of all, Py Korry, thank you for allowing me/us to re-visit the days of neon earrings, white pumps (no offense to any of you that still wear them) and leg warmers. Aaah. It feels good to be back.I chose to do my mix 6 on the best movie’s from the 80’s via their soundtracks.

Psychedelic Furs “Pretty in Pink” Come on, who didn’t want Molly Ringwald (Andie) to break up with Andrew McCarthy (Blaine) and hook up with Jon Cryer (Duckie) at the dance? Also, props to Annie Potts in that movie. Has she always been 50 years old?

John Parr “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion)” A classic Brat Pack movie from the 80’s. I think every girl had a poster of Rob Lowe or the entire cast on their puppy dog wallpaper in their bedroom when this movie came out…or was that just me? I hate when that happens.

Kenny Loggins “I’m Free (Heaven Help the Man)” Any song that causes Kevin Bacon to dance in those sexy Nike’s is okay with me. “Hey, hey! What’s this I see? I thought this was a party. LET’S DANCE!”

Wang Chung “Fire in the Twilight” Aaaah yes, the escape scene from my favorite movie of all time! If you’re a big ol’ BC fan, you remember this scene. The pack is out roaming the halls and trying to find a way back to the library while Vernon (Paul Gleason) kills time by walking the halls and looking in the basement files.

Kenny Loggins “I’m Alright” If you don’t like “Caddyshack” we can’t be friends. “Dooooooodie!”

Thompson Twins “If You Were Here” I think you’ll all agree with me that the final scene with Samantha (Molly Ringwald) and Jake (Michael Schoeffling) on the table with the birthday cake was the PERFECT ending to the movie. Pass the Kleenex.
