Bike Journal

Six miles in on my ride this morning, and sadly my chain came off the crank. Boo! Usually, I can fix it, but this one was not an easy fix. Something happened to the chain and it got all tangled up. Thankfully, my brother Steve is coming to pick me up and take me to the bike shop to get it fixed.

What really pisses me off is that I spent over $150 getting my bike tuned up, but the chain wasn’t locking into the gears as smoothly as it should. I just passed it off as it not having enough lubricant on the chain. Clearly I was wrong about that.

Anyway, sitting here waiting on a ride back made me realize that when I bike I often get a song stuck in my head. Mostly they are stupid songs by Pink or Lady Gaga, but today it was “Bell Boy” by The Who — but just the chorus. I was singing the line “Licking boots for my perks” when my chain decided it had enough. Now? Well, it’s now “The Edge of Glory” by Gaga that’s crept back into my head. Crap. I’m in hell.
