Armed and Famous

Yesterday at work, C-Lo and I did a bit about this new show featuring Erik Estrada, Wee Man, and Jack Osbourne, La Toya Jackson, and Trish Stratus.  “Armed and Famous” can be classified under the heading of “reality TV,” but as we all know by now, there’s nothing “real” about these shows — other than they are unscripted for the most part.

Okay, so I watched the show, and it was entertaining to see B-list celebs go through police training and eventually cruise around in patrol cars with rank and file cops.  However, I think the years of playing a cop on TV has made Erik Estrada believe he is a real cop, and he was every excited to be among the real men (even though, Trish Stratus, Jack Osbourne, and Wee Man will probably be the better cops on the beat).

The highlight of the show was when the celeb cadets had to get shocked with a Taser before they could use one.  It seems there’s some kind of messed up law in Indiana that requires anyone who uses a Taser to get shocked by one.

So, like the real man he is, Erik is the first one out of the gate to get a shock. I don’t know about you, but to me when he screams in pain, it’s about 50% acting — and bad acting at that!  And because the world is so much better because there’s You Tube, here’s the clip:

  1. Just watching Ponch was good enough for me. I’m definately tuning in tonight. Good stuff Py.

  2. Shocking isnt’ it. I actually like the Indiana law. It will make the police think twice befoe zapping someone. The police tasered a man in our neighborhood a couple of times during a call and the man died while in handcuffs. Granted the man was having emotional problem and living with his parents, but the whole shift showed up at the house to get him under control. There have been many instances where a taser was used and the person died.

  3. Oh good I’m glad someone I know saw this. I heard about it and wanted to see how Erik did, but I was way too sleepy last night to even sit on the couch. I went staight up to bed when I got home.
I admit I was more into John, but I dreamed of Poch every once in a while (remember I was probably 10).

  4. My husband informs me that there are no “settings” on the Taser, although the levels for police Tasers vs. civilian Tasers are different.
