A quick post to feature an interview I did with Christina Wong from Greenbelt Alliance on “Smart Growth,” “Livable Communities,” and how these concepts intersect in communities that are near my neck of the woods. The cities the two of us talk about are probably far removed from the majority of folks who read this blog, but the ideas can be applied to many parts of the world.

In New York they have these little communities were people could live work, and shop with in walking distance. The wages are really low the shops are selling their items really high and the homes are affordable. What is happening is that people are begging outsiders to buy groceries and bring it in for them, because they cannot afford their own shops. When situations like these exist, there is always exploitation.
Just leave the land alone and let the wild life have a space to go.
Do you mean that the shop owners can’t afford to pay their rents — even though the prices of their products are overpriced?
